Database Guidelines: Movie
These guidelines are designed to maintain a high-quality and consistent movie database on Nevix. Adherence to these rules is crucial for a positive user experience and a well-organized database. Moderators retain the final say on all submissions and interpretations of these guidelines. Ignoring these guidelines may result in content removal, edits being rejected, or even temporary/permanent bans.
What is “Movie”?
For Nevix, a “movie” is defined as a feature-length film intended for theatrical or direct-to-consumer release (excluding anime and other forms of Japanese animation which belong in the Anime database). This includes:
- Feature Length: Generally considered to be over 40 minutes in runtime. Shorter films may be considered depending on context (e.g., critically acclaimed shorts, theatrical releases).
- Intended Release: The work must be intended for release as a standalone film, not solely as part of a larger television series or other episodic content. Exceptions may be made for TV specials or Netflix specials that are treated as films by critics and distributors.
- Professional Production: The film should be a professionally produced work, not a fan-made or amateur production.
Movie Information Fields
- Original Language: This field identifies the language of the film’s original production. Use the language of the primary spoken dialogue.
- Title:
- Prefer the title as it appears in the original on-screen opening credits. Prioritize the title used for the first official release (theatrical, physical, digital, or television).
- Do not romanize non-Roman titles.
- Follow capitalization rules specific to the language.
- Prefer offical title translations if available.
- If multiple entries share the same title, the most recent entry includes the type or year in parentheses.
- Synopsis:
- Writers must stick to facts that can be verified and should not include their own original theories or conclusions.
- When using source material, don’t copy directly or just slightly modify copyrighted text. Instead, thoroughly understand the source material and then completely rewrite it using your own words and structure. The main exception is when you need to use brief, specific quotes - these must be properly marked with quotation marks, cite the source within the text, and generally name who said/wrote it.
- Don’t include links.
- Cover Image:
- No explicit or pornographic content
- NSFW elements must be appropriately censored
- Use high-quality, official artwork only
- Apply “Sensitive” content warning for potentially disturbing images
- Images should be clear, properly cropped, and well-formatted
- Airing Dates: Use Japan Standard Time.
- Rating: Follow Nevix’s rating system (G, PG, PG13, R, NC17).
Data Submission Etiquette
- Complete Fields: Fill out as many fields as possible to expedite the approval process.
- No Duplicate Submissions: Submitting the same entry multiple times will delay approval.
- Respectful Communication: Address questions and concerns to moderators politely and professionally.
