Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Nudity

Last Updated: August 1, 2023

Policy Rationale

Nevix is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive online environment for all users, particularly minors. We recognize that children deserve protection from all forms of sexual exploitation and nudity, and we do not tolerate any content or activity that poses a risk to their safety. Upon identifying instances of child exploitation, we promptly report the matter to the appropriate legal and child safety authorities. Although we understand that parents may occasionally share nude images of their children with harmless intentions, we generally remove these images to deter potential misuse and protect the child's privacy.

We continually seek expert advice, including collaborating with child safety advisory boards, to refine our policies and enforcement strategies related to child safety. We leverage cutting-edge technology to combat child exploitation effectively.

Prohibited Content

Child Sexual Exploitation

Any content or activity that advocates, glorifies, provides instructions for, admits participation in, or includes links related to the sexual exploitation of children (real or digital minors, toddlers, or babies) is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Explicit or implied sexual acts.
  • Stimulation of genitals or anus.
  • Presence of by-products of sexual activity.
  • Sexual intercourse involving an animal.
  • Imagery of children in sexual contexts, such as restraint, focus on genitals, presence of an aroused adult, use of sex toys, sexualized costumes, stripping, staged environments (e.g., on a bed), or professionally shot.
  • Open-mouth kissing involving minors.
  • Content that supports or promotes pedophilia unless it is discussed neutrally in an academic or verified health context.
  • Mocking or identifying alleged victims of child sexual exploitation by name or image.

Solicitation

Content that solicits:

  • Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)
  • Nude imagery of children
  • Sexualized imagery of children
  • Real-world sexual encounters with children

Inappropriate Interactions with Children

Content that facilitates inappropriate interactions with children, such as:

  • Arranging real-world sexual encounters with children
  • Exposing children to sexually explicit language or material
  • Engaging in implicitly sexual conversations with children in private messages
  • Requesting or obtaining sexual material from children in private messages

Exploitative Imagery and Sextortion

Attempts to exploit minors by:

  • Coercing money, favors, or intimate imagery with threats to expose intimate imagery or information.
  • Sharing, threatening, or expressing intent to share private sexual conversations or intimate imagery.

Sexualization of Children

Any content (photos, videos, real-world art, digital content, verbal depictions) that sexualizes children, or any group, pages, or profiles dedicated to sexualizing children.

Child Nudity

Depictions of child nudity are prohibited. Nudity is defined as:

  • Close-ups of children’s genitalia
  • Visible genitalia or anus in images of real nude toddlers or minors.
  • Uncovered female nipples.
  • No clothes from neck to knee, even if no genitalia or female nipples are showing.
  • Digitally-created depictions of nude minors, unless the image is for health or educational purposes.

Non-Sexual Child Abuse

Images depicting non-sexual child abuse are forbidden, regardless of the intent behind sharing. Content that praises, supports, promotes, advocates for, provides instructions for, or encourages participation in non-sexual child abuse is prohibited.

Content Requiring Additional Context

In certain instances, we add a warning screen to content that may be disturbing or sensitive, limiting its visibility to adults aged 18 and above:

  • Videos or photos depicting police officers or military personnel committing non-sexual child abuse.
  • Images of non-sexual child abuse requested by law enforcement, child protection agencies, or trusted safety partners to be kept on the platform to help bring a child to safety.

Furthermore, some content may be accompanied by a sensitivity screen:

  • Videos or photos of violent immersion of a child in water in the context of religious rituals.

We require additional information or context to enforce the following:

  • Images posted by a news agency that depicts child nudity in the context of famine, genocide, war crimes, or crimes against humanity, unless it is accompanied by a violating caption or shared in a violating context, which would lead to the content's removal.
  • We may also remove images depicting the aftermath of non-sexual child abuse when reported by news media partners, NGOs, or other trusted safety partners.

We believe these guidelines will help maintain a safe and nurturing environment for our users, especially the young ones. At Nevix, we stand against child exploitation, and we urge everyone in our community to do the same. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping Nevix a safe space for all.
